More Serviced Apartments Added To SilverDoor’s Website

SilverDoor has expanded its website to reflect its ever growing portfolio which now includes 954 apartment buildings in 186 towns and cities around the world.

Chris Gee, sales director at SilverDoor said: “Business is booming at the moment. One of the benefits of operating globally is that there are always lots of new serviced apartment buildings opening. Given the shortage of supply of serviced apartments in general, one of the main keys to our expansion is the continued growth in supply of new serviced apartment buildings.”

A recent addition is a selection of serviced apartments in Milton Keynes. These apartments are situated within a ten minute walk of the main shopping centre and a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. Ideal as business accommodation, the mainline train station is a short walk away and has a direct service to London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. Each modern furnished apartment includes a comfortable living area, a fully equipped kitchen and a luxury bathroom with a bath and a shower. Apartment features include a secure video entry system, free broadband internet access and a flat screen TV with Sky satellite channels. These serviced apartments and penthouses also enjoy south facing balconies and complimentary parking is also provided for one car.

As well as Milton Keynes, SilverDoor has added some new serviced apartments in Nottingham. Situated on the Ropewalk, these stylish and contemporary Nottingham serviced apartments are conveniently located near to the town centre. Residents have access to the popular shopping areas, renowned boutiques, designer stores and a great selection of bars, restaurants, cinemas and theatres. These modern apartments are well suited to those who require a short-term corporate rental as the business and commercial districts are within a ten minute walk. Each one and two bedroom apartment is beautifully furnished and includes a large living area and dining area, a modern kitchen with a complete range of appliances, master bedroom with king size beds and a separate bathroom.

SilverDoor Has Announced Record Figures For August After An Amazing Month For Sales Despite The Country Being In Recession

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development says the pace of the global downturn is now moderating after a sharp drop in the six months to March and that the recovery is likely to be weak and fragile for some time. However, despite hotels being hit hard during this time, the serviced apartment industry hasn’t seen the same drop in business, as shown by the figures SilverDoor has published.

SilverDoor has seen a 41% growth year on year and it has also increased its portfolio due to client demand, adding new serviced apartments in Cheltenham. Clarence Apartments, located in historic Clarence Square, is a few minutes’ walk f r o m the town centre with its selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The fully furnished apartment is convenient for Cheltenham Race Course, the Centaur Conference Centre and the famous Pittville Park with Pump Room where the legendary spa waters can still be tasted. The apartment is housed within a beautiful regency townhouse and comprises one double bedroom, bathroom, an open-plan kitchen/dining room and a sitting room with a bay window which overlooks the public gardens.

Also recently added to the SilverDoor portfolio, is Rimal Apartments, a new selection of Dubai serviced apartments. Conveniently located within walking distance of the major shopping district of Deira and a short drive f r o m Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Trade Centre, these spacious well equipped apartments offer a choice of comfortable studio apartments and two bedroom accommodation. Serviced Apartment Business Is Experiencing A Boost Says SilverDoor

SilverDoor has revealed that, with many companies now selling serviced apartments bought for senior executives to stay in while working at other offices or working away from home, the serviced apartment business is experiencing a boost. Since property values began to fall some companies no longer consider owning serviced apartments as an investment.

Chris Gee, Sales Director at SilverDoor said: “Company apartments require a lot of administration due to the management of utility bills, landlords, cleaners and quality issues. As companies make cuts, this becomes added pressure for the staff trying to manage the company apartment. By selling, companies are able to release the equity tied up in this one-time investment at a time when banks are more and more reluctant to lend money.”

A company apartment in London has always been a popular option with many companies having head offices in the capital while also having satellite offices and remote workers. Discovery Dock in Canary Wharf is a development of London serviced apartments which has proved a particularly popular choice for companies to invest in over recent months. One and two bedroom apartments are available in the area, with the two bedroom apartments being located in a separate tower and with complimentary access to the swimming pool and the gym. Companies can continue to stay in this location by taking a serviced apartment for specific durations as required rather than having to pay continually.

Serviced apartments in Edinburgh have also been popular among companies and businesses. Edinburgh Quay serviced apartments are set over six floors within a modern apartment building, with the most central building overlooking the regenerated Edinburgh Quay canal basin. Each apartment is available in a variety of sizes and includes contemporary interiors and furniture, floor to ceiling windows and equipped kitchens.

This boost to the serviced apartment industry is great news for SilverDoor which has seen its business go from strength to strength and now represent almost thirty five thousand apartments worldwide.

Silverdoor Portfolio Hits Almost 35,000 Apartments Available Worldwide

So far 2009 has proved to be a great year for SilverDoor, with the addition of even more new serviced apartments to its website.

Since Silverdoor changed its name in 2006, the Chiswick based company has seen a big expansion of its database of serviced apartments, allowing it to offer properties in over 170 locations globally. Now with the addition of a wide collection of new properties ranging from serviced apartments in Aberdeen through to serviced apartments in Prague, the number of apartments which are available has risen past the 34,000 mark to almost 35,000.

Possibly the jewel in the crown when it comes to the new additions, is the inclusion of several new Prague serviced apartments, including The Riverview Apartments and the Pachtuv Palace Apartments. Both sets of apartments are located in the centre of Prague, with The Riverview Apartments providing ideal for accommodation for budget-conscious travellers, and as its name suggests great views overlooking the Vitava River. On the other hand, The Pachtuv Palace Apartments offer luxury serviced accommodation in what was formally the Pachtuv Palace, a cultural and architectural landmark that is built around a stunning eighteenth century courtyard.

“The standard of serviced apartments in Prague is very high. Many are particularly spacious, with large windows and are architecturally interesting. We are pleased to increase the number of serviced apartments in Prague we offer as the number of business-related visits continues to rise there”, said Chris Gee, Sales Director at SilverDoor.

With the quality of apartments continuing to rise and SilverDoor now representing almost thirty five thousand apartments worldwide, it looks like SilverDoor is going from strength to strength.

The Heat Wave Hitting The UK This Summer Increased The Demand For Serviced Apartments With Some Form Of Outdoor Space

SilverDoor has revealed that, with temperatures soaring in London and the South East this summer, there has been an increased demand f r o m customers for serviced apartments with some form of outdoor space, be it a balcony, a terrace or a communal garden.

“In Central London where the temperature has been known to soar as high as 33 Celsius, the advantage of outside space is very important,” said Marnie Delaney-Parker, Head of PR and Marketing at SilverDoor. “No one wants to be inside when the British weather is as wonderful as it has been recently and a terrace or a balcony is perfect and makes a serviced apartment seem a much better option than a hotel room with no outside space.”

Key areas for Silverdoor which have seen increased attention are the towns of Newbury and Croydon. Serviced apartments in Newbury have always been a popular choice and the Library Apartments building features a communal roof garden as well as a comfortable lounge area with a dining table and chairs for entertaining or working at, along with high specification AV equipment and television with Sky satellite channels. The Maresfield Apartment, which is a serviced apartment in Croydon, has also received a great deal of increased interest. Located within a residential area only ten minutes walk f r o m East Croydon mainline station, the apartment features one double bedroom, a separate bathroom and an open plan kitchen/lounge area that leads onto a patio and communal lawns.

While the recent heat wave, which has seen night-time temperatures remaining above 18 Celsius in some areas leading the Met Office to raise its heat wave alert, has been bad news for many people across the country as they try to sleep, it has provided a welcome boon for Silverdoor.

SilverDoor Produces Its Half Yearly Figures And Sees Huge Growth

SilverDoor is reporting a huge growth over the past year despite the recession currently gripping the UK. The serviced apartment provider has seen a 41% year on year growth, according to newly published figures.

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development said the pace of the global downturn is now moderating after the sharp drop in the six months leading up to March and that the recovery is likely to be weak and fragile for some time. However, despite hotels being hit hard during this time, the serviced apartment industry clearly hasn’t been, given the figures SilverDoor has published.

Not only has SilverDoor seen a large growth year on year, it has also increased its portfolio due to client demand, adding new Manchester serviced apartments and additional serviced apartments in Bristol.

The Deans Gate Apartments in Manchester are located in the popular Deansgate area, amongst some of the city’s most famous attractions. They provide a range of two bedroom apartments and a three bedroom duplex, with many of the apartments benefitting from a private balcony. The apartments are furnished and include fully equipped kitchens and spacious living/dining rooms with flat screen TV’s. As competition becomes fierce, more and more serviced apartments are offering value added extras and The Deans Gate Apartments offer an airport or rail pick up for a small charge.

Another new offering is the Portland Apartments in Bristol which provides contemporary serviced accommodation set within an elegant Georgian Square, and just minutes from the city centre. These apartments feature modern amenities and offer a choice of one or two bedroom apartments, as well as studios and a penthouse. All come with a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge area.

“Every day we see reports stating the decline in people using hotel accommodation at this time, yet we’ve found that serviced apartments have not been hit in the same way. It’s such a cost effective solution and more and more companies are going down this route to save on accommodation spend,” said Marnie Delaney-Parker, Head of PR and Marketing at SilverDoor. “It’s not just the per night spend either, as companies can save on the additional costs of room service or restaurant bills as well as laundry bills. We have seen a significant growth and are not historically entering our busiest period.”

SilverDoor Has Spoken Out On The MPs’ Second Home Scandal With Recommendations For Alternative Accommodation

Rather than take on a second home in the capital, MP’s could take a serviced apartment and SilverDoor has taken on some new serviced apartments in London. West End Quay apartments are located in Paddington and are part of the Paddington Waterside development which is s e t around the Grand Union Canal. The location offers excellent access to the City and the West End f r o m Edgware Road Underground stations while the Heathrow Express operates f r o m nearby Paddington Station every 15 minutes. The modern and stylish studio, one and two bedroom apartments provide spacious living areas and quality furnishings and feature separate dining, living and sleeping areas. There is also a 24 hour concierge service and a courtyard seating area.

Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh have also been in the spotlight recently. Andrew Mitchell, Birmingham MP, claimed for furniture for his second home in Birmingham yet had the furniture delivered to his London home – something that could have been avoided if he had used a serviced apartment in Birmingham. The Arc Apartments are a new addition to SilverDoor’s serviced apartments in Birmingham. Located in the centre of the city, each open-plan one or two bedroom apartments is furnished to a high standard and features the use of a concierge service as well as complimentary broadband and on-site parking. “The Arc Apartments are in a perfect location for someone wanting to stay in Birmingham, whether it be for a short time or an extended stay” said Marnie Delaney-Parker, head of PR and marketing at SilverDoor.

In Manchester, SilverDoor has numerous serviced options and The Edge apartments are located in one of Manchester’s most significant residential developments situated on a key riverside location in the city. The apartments offer a stylish spacious lounge/dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with a range of integrated modern appliances. Guests will benefit f r o m free internet use and a welcome pack on arrival as well as on-site parking. These serviced apartments in Manchester complement the rest of the SilverDoor portfolio.

Clive Betts, Labour MP for Sheffield claimed over £6000 for furnishings of his second home, again a cost that could have been avoided, had he used a serviced apartment.

Recently added to the Edinburgh portfolio is Grove Executive. Opened earlier this year, the development includes a choice of studios, one and two bedroom apartments and two bedroom penthouses. These modern serviced apartments in Edinburgh city centre are located within the West End district and are a short walk f r o m Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle and the mainline train station. John Barrett, Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West claimed £1138 per month mortgage interest on a second home in a building in London where SilverDoor represent serviced apartments.

SilverDoor Adds The First Ever Purpose Built Serviced Apartment Development In Cardiff To Its Ever Increasing Portfolio

SilverDoor has added the first ever purpose built development of Cardiff serviced apartments to strengthen its portfolio of UK serviced apartments and has also added more serviced apartments in Reading and more serviced apartments in Brighton.

Crown Apartments in Reading offer one and two bedroom accommodation and are just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and the rail station. A great selection of shops, restaurants and bars can be found in the town centre along Broad Street and within the Oracle Shopping Centre. These apartments are modern and luxuriously furnished and well suited for business travellers and are in a convenient position for all of Reading’s blue chip companies.

Also added last year to the SilverDoor database is Loft Apartments in Brighton. These apartments are a selection of luxuriously furnished one and two bedroom apartments and are conveniently located to enjoy the vibrant nightlife, shopping and café culture of Brighton. Each apartment has been decorated in a modern style and includes a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living area and a separate bathroom with a bath and shower. Some of the apartments also have access to a private rooftop terrace with sea views.

“These locations are very popular for SilverDoor and the serviced apartment market and we’re delighted that we now have some more options to offer,” said Chris Gee, sales director at SilverDoor, “The provider we use in these locations also has serviced apartments in Glasgow and Bristol, again very popular locations for us.”

A new addition, opened earlier this year is Meridian Apartments in Cardiff. These serviced apartments provide modern serviced accommodation and are housed within a purpose built development with a choice of studios, one and two bedroom apartments. All of the apartments are tastefully furnished and come complete with state-of-the-art kitchen facilities, comfortable living areas and luxurious bedrooms with king size beds and modern bathrooms. The development also has a reception desk manned throughout office hours.

“We are finding that more and more companies are opting for serviced apartments over hotels so availability can be limited so to get a provider to invest into key locations and with high quality accommodation is just perfect,” said Marnie Delaney-Parker, head of PR and marketing at SilverDoor.

SilverDoor offers serviced apartments in more than 160 locations globally and offers a range of accommodation to suit all budgets.

SilverDoor Increases Its Portfolio With Larger Apartments Due To Client Demand

Generally the trend in serviced apartments has been either one or two bedroom apartments and the larger apartments have been for training groups or perhaps relocation with a family, but SilverDoor has seen a recent growth in the need for larger apartments of three and four bedrooms.

“Companies can reduce accommodation costs by getting colleagues to share a serviced apartment rather than booking three separate hotel rooms,” said Marnie Delaney-Parker, head of PR and marketing at SilverDoor, “It’s not just the accommodation costs that are reduced but also all additional costs such as costly restaurant bills and laundry bills. All serviced apartments feature facilities to allow guests to cook for themselves and to do laundry. We estimate that for a longer stay, guests can save around 30% on additional costs compared to staying in a hotel.”

SilverDoor has seen significant growth in Scotland and offers some larger serviced apartments in Glasgow. Central Apartments are housed in a refurbished Victorian townhouse and offer modern furnished accommodation in a fantastic city centre location. As well as offering three bedroom apartments, the property also has one and two bedroom options. All apartments are stylishly decorated and comfortably furnished while still retaining many original features.

Serviced apartments in Belfast have also seen a growing trend recently in larger apartments. Willowbank apartments in South Belfast offer two and three bedroom accommodation and have full kitchen facilities, a separate lounge area and a garden area, too. The apartments are a ten-minute drive from the airport as well as a short taxi ride from the city centre.

It’s not just in the UK that SilverDoor has spotted a trend, with Amsterdam serviced apartments becoming larger to meet demand of clients wanting to share and save costs. Dutch Masters Apartments located within the city centre form part of an exclusive development within the historical district.

The development is situated on the Keizersgracht canal, and there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and transport connections nearby. Each apartment is themed on a famous Dutch artist to offer guests a variety of truly unique apartments.

The development offers one, two and three bedroom apartments, all comfortably furnished. Some apartments have a roof terrace, while some have access to the tranquil gardens at the back of the property and others have views of the canal.

Silverdoor Has Announced That It Has Added To Its Extensive Portfolio Of Accommodation By Introducing New Apartments In Cardiff And London

Meridian Apartments are a range of studios, one and two bed serviced apartments in Cardiff. They opened in February 2009 and are located in Cardiff city centre, near to the Millennium Stadium and close to both Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street rail stations. The apartments are housed within a purpose built building and boast luxurious bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas and kitchens.

Since 2005 when Cardiff celebrated its centenary as a city and 50 years as capital of Wales, “Cardiff serviced apartments are becoming more and more popular due to the regeneration of the bay area and key parts of the city centre,” said Chris Gee, Sales Director at SilverDoor.

Another property recently added to the SilverDoor portfolio is Templeton Place in London, which is housed within a newly completed residential development in Earls Court. The apartments are conveniently located for Earls Court Exhibition Centre and the underground station, providing easy links for other parts of London. These serviced apartments in London offer a spacious, contemporary living area, with fully equipped kitchen and integrated appliances.

“This part of London is such a popular location. Trying to accommodate people who need to be near this area has been a challenge as we have not had enough serviced apartments here before. There are many apartment buildings in the surrounding areas but there weren’t enough in Earls Court and many have restrictions on lengths of stays, some with minimum stays of ninety nights. One of the benefits of Templeton Place apartments is that they will offer shorter stays,” said Chris Gee. “We’re delighted that we can now offer something in this area and are confident it will become a huge success.”

Also new in London is Gloucester Place Apartments in Marylebone. It is housed within a newly converted Georgian townhouse located less than five minutes walk from Regents Park and Baker Street underground stations. All of the one bedroom apartments have air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen with a range of integrated appliances and a comfortable lounge and dining area.

“Marylebone is a really popular area for serviced apartments in London and we get many requests, especially from overseas visitors who intend to stay for a while,” said Stuart Winstone, Head of Business Partnerships at SilverDoor. “The whole area has the feel of a small village to it and is so close to Regents Park offering the best of both worlds, yet is ten minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street and the West End.”

Chris Gee, SilverDoor Sales Director, said “Berlin serviced apartments also represent an increasing business channel for SilverDoor”. Currently the company already represents five serviced apartments in the city and is aiming to increase this within the next six months.

Even in times of declining economic activity, Berlin remains able to hold its own ground as a competitive business location. The city offers an outstanding infrastructure and a large and highly qualified workforce as well as excellent colleges, universities and research institutions. Business, science and research are tightly interwoven in Berlin. Many smaller companies with a wealth of creative energy generate an innovative environment for the big players in the field. Around twenty of the world’s top fifty largest companies have offices in Berlin.

The Henriette serviced apartments are located within a stylish boutique aparthotel, giving guests the privacy, space and comfort of a serviced apartment along with the added luxuries of a hotel such as room service, reception and on site restaurants, bar and residents lounge.

The Krausenstrasse Apartment Hotel also options the benefits of a serviced apartment with the added extras of a hotel and has facilities such as a fitness studio, an indoor swimming pool and 24 hour reception as well as conference and meeting facilities.

Silverdoor Reaches Record High With Edinburgh Bookings

Edinburgh has now become a top ten destination within SilverDoor’s portfolio of serviced apartments, following a recent growth in bookings for serviced apartments in Edinburgh and the city’s surrounding areas.

“Edinburgh serviced apartments is a very popular market for us,” said Chris Gee, Sales Director at SilverDoor. “Despite the city offering some fantastic hotels, more and more people want to stay in a serviced apartment.”

Boasting serviced apartments in Edinburgh City Centre, Leith and residential areas around the City, SilverDoor has 28 serviced apartment buildings on their website with a choice of studios, one, two, three and four bedroom apartments.

SilverDoor’s new properties include Garden Royal apartments, located centrally just off Queen Street and steps from the National Portrait Gallery in New Town. A more traditionally designed apartment block, these Edinburgh serviced apartments offer the benefits of a hotel whilst retaining the advantages of a serviced apartment. The property offers a dedicated reception, business centre and guest lounge, while also boasting a partnership with the nearby Scotsman Hotel, allowing guests to enjoy the health club facilities as well as Scotland’s first ever Cowshed Spa.

“Garden Royal Apartments concentrate on a lot of extra touches,” said Marnie Delaney-Parker, Head of PR and Marketing at SilverDoor. “Guests returning weekly can leave their belongings and provisions behind for the weekend. Garden Royal will simply transfer everything back to the guest’s apartment for their arrival. They’ll also offer to clean any laundry guests may wish to leave behind.”

Also part of SilverDoor’s new Edinburgh properties is Leith Waterside Apartments, located in the cosmopolitan area of Leith. Leith Waterside Apartments offer temporary membership of a local health club, a twenty four hour concierge service and a complimentary shuttle bus in to Edinburgh City Centre.

clean, efficient and modern image. The new offices have been thoughtfully planned with a fine attention to detail which reflects the corporate attitude of the company.

Marcus Angell, SilverDoor’s founder and Managing Director said “Due to a staggering 2008, we need to employ more staff and in turn this means that we need more space. When we moved into 3 Dukes Gate we were a team of 14 and now a year on we have doubled in size with another recruitment drive currently taking place. We are already on 3 floors within our current Dukes Gate location and are looking at offices close by as additional space. I’m determined that the comfort and style of our current offices will continue into our new premises and therefore trying to find space close by is imperative. I have ensured that our Dukes Gate office is somewhere the team like to be and the office was designed with a staff recreation area for everyone to enjoy as well as a comfortable business environment allowing the team to be productive.”

2008 has seen a 54% increase in sales revenue and with a busy year ahead expected. SilverDoor is already looking at recruiting for their 2009/10 student placement program that starts in June as well as currently recruiting corporate sales consultants, finance staff and a specific web developer to help launch their 360 degree tours and Google StreetView within the next few months.

SilverDoor came runner up in the Buying Business Travel Diamond Awards Best Serviced Apartment category in December and achieved finalist status in the prestigious Best Business Accommodation category at the Business Travel World Awards held in January. Both award ceremonies are highly respected and valued amongst the travel trade and represent the views of the most important industry clients.

Buying Business Travel first introduced a Best Serviced Apartment category in 2007 and 2009 was the first year that SilverDoor decided to launch a marketing campaign centred around their nomination in the awards. SilverDoor has also sponsored the Business Travel Personality of the Year award for the past two years and presented awards to Mike Platt in 2008 and Richard Lovell in 2009, both industry leaders.

As part of its rapid expansion, SilverDoor has recently added new serviced apartments in Manchester, Cape Town, as well as serviced apartments in Cardiff and Cork as part of its international portfolio.
